Description of the admissions system

The admissions system NyA is a service that targets Swedish higher education institutions (HEIs). The purpose of the service is to assist HEIs with student admissions. Here, a description is provided of how personal data is managed when a user logs in to access the various services and functions in NyA.


The Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) is a public authority with a wide range of tasks in the education sector. One task is to, on behalf of Swedish higher education institutions, assist in the admission of students and be responsible for a coordinated admissions process. Data is also used to fulfill UHR’s task as systems manager.

Transfer of personal data

When you log in to this service, certain information is transferred from the identity issuer (your login service) to ensure that you may access your information located in the service.
When an individual logs in to this service, the following personal data is requested from the identity issuer used.

In addition to direct personal data, even indirect data is transferred: the organisation the user belongs to and the identity issuer that was used during login. This information, together with the personal data previously listed, can be used to uniquely identify an individual.

This service follows the international framework GÉANT Data Protection Code of Conduct for the transfer of personal data from identity issuers to services.
